i've been gaining interest in consumer tech and industrial design recently. i decided to build my own mp3 player and learn the electronics and firmware as i go.
the pcb was designed in kicad and manufactured by jlcpcb. the enclosure was designed in onshape and 3d printed.
a simplification i made was to make the playback bluetooth only. i always use my airpods on the go and love its convenience. using breakout boards also greatly simplified this project, but i hope to learn how to design my boards from scratch in the future.
this project is still a work in progress, but from it i have already learned a lot about microcontrollers, rtos, memory management, mp3 file structure, unicode, and more.
